We are looking for our first hire in our Research function who is excited about shaping the future of investing through research-driven insights. As part of this role, you will lead market research, provide deal support, and develop strategic insights that inform our investment decisions. This role is ideal for a candidate with a blend of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and a passion for deep research. This role is also ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who is excited to build a new function in partnership with the investment team and other senior leaders at the firm.
Responsibilities
- Deal Support: Provide in-depth market research and due diligence support for prospective investments, including market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, and growth potential assessments.
- Market Mapping: Develop comprehensive market maps to identify emerging trends, leading players, and potential investment opportunities across different sectors.
- Thematic Research: Conduct high-quality thematic research to identify and track key trends within target industries, generating insights that help shape the firm's investment thesis.
- Quantitative Research Support: Support the investment team's quantitative analysis, including market sizing models, benchmarking & competitor research.
- Data-Driven Insights: Utilize various data sources, both internal and external, to provide actionable insights that drive investment strategy and portfolio company support.
- Collaborative Approach: Work closely with investment professionals, data scientists, portfolio companies, and external stakeholders (founders, industry experts, LPs) to refine research outputs and inform decision-making.
- Content Development: Create research materials, reports, and presentations for internal and external use, including market briefs, investment memos, and thought leadership pieces.
- Knowledge Management: Build a research repository and implement processes for systematic knowledge sharing within the firm & portfolio companies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in research, consulting, investment banking, venture capital, private equity, or a similar field with a focus on market and competitive research.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in market analysis, financial modeling, and data interpretation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of autonomy.
- Proficiency in research tools (e.g., Capital IQ, Crunchbase) and data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Python, R).
- Familiarity with market mapping techniques, competitive landscape analysis, and emerging technology trends.
